Kilter Rural’s approach to environmental, social and governance performance, and ethics, has resulted in two impact investment funds being certified by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA).

RIAA is the largest and most active network of people and organisations engaged in responsible, ethical and impact investing across Australia and New Zealand.

The Murray-Darling Basin Balanced Water Fund and The Australian Farmlands Funds have been certified according to the strict operational and disclosure practices required under RIAA’s Responsible Investment Certification Program (RICP).

The program provides investors with standardised and consistent information allowing them to compare and contrast the investment options that have been assessed and verified as responsible or ethical.

Certification indicates we have implemented a detailed responsible investment process for all investment decisions and both products have met the strict performance and holdings disclosure requirements of the program, including being audited by an external party to verify the investment process.

Kilter Rural CEO Cullen Gunn says: “We are delighted to participate in the RIAA’s Responsible Investment Certification Program. Kilter Rural seeks philosophically aligned investors who demand sustainable products and who are looking to invest responsibly. Through these funds, we are offering a sustainable impact investment option in Australian farmland and water backed by our 15-year performance track record.”
RIAA’s Certification Symbol Trademark provides consumers and industry alike with a quality mark of Australia and New Zealand’s standard for responsible investing products and advice.

Responsible investment is a strategy used by investors to incorporate environmental, social, governance or ethical factors into their investment choices and ownership practices.

The RICP was created in 2005 in partnership with the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation and the Victorian Government. It helps investors by providing standardised and consistent information about certified responsible investment products, services and policies.

The certification symbol signifies that The Murray-Darling Basin Balanced Water Fund and The Australian Farmlands Funds take environmental, social, governance and ethical considerations into account along with financial returns.

To be licensed to use the certification symbol, Kilter Rural was required to meet strict operational and disclosure requirements for the category of Product Provider. Kilter Rural was also independently reviewed and key details regarding our certification are available through RIAA’s website at or by phoning RIAA on +61 2 8228 8100.

The certification symbol is a registered trademark owned and managed by RIAA and there are currently five categories: Product, Superfund Whole of Fund, Investment Management Service, Financial Adviser and Financial Advisory Group.
