Michael Neville, Kilter Rural’s GM of Land & Ecosystems, talks to ABC Radio reporter Angus Verley about growing cotton.

Kilter Rural’s cotton crop is grown in the Swan Hill/Kerang region under irrigation using an underground drip irrigation system with soil moisture sensors for maximum water use efficiency.

Cotton is part of our diversified cropping program. Crops are selected according to their ability to deliver the highest possible return per megalitre of water used. Cotton results in no more water being taken from the system than any other crop, the allocation is set at a certain amount, and not dependent on the type of crop grown.
