California seeks advice from Australia on water management
Monday, January 30, 2017

Despite recent rains, more than half of California remains in drought and there is an urgent need to make changes to how water is managed. With Australia regarded as a leader in water management, three industry delegations from California have visited Australia over the past 18 months to meet with farmers and public policy experts to discuss water management issues. A report last year titled “Managing Drought: Learning From Australia”, produced by the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney, showed that strategies developed and mistakes made during Australia’s so-called 15-year millennium drought between 1997 and 2012 provided a powerful resource for California.
